LONGMONT, Colo. – A group of teens tired of waiting for a friend caused a scare at a Longmont King Soopers Friday afternoon.

Longmont Police say the teens were waiting in a car for a friend shopping in the store located at 995 South Hover Road. When the friend didn't come out, they grew impatient and threw the teen’s backpack inside the front entrance and took off.

This prompted police to evacuate the entire building and surrounding businesses. Police used a bomb robot to investigate the backpack but later determined that it posed no danger.

Police say the teens were identified from surveillance video. They believe they are from a nearby school. It’s not known if any charges will be filed.

The store reopened about an hour after the all-clear was given.
