DENVER -- State lawmakers will debate Wednesday possible rules and regulations for marijuana clubs.
Amendment 64 legalized recreational marijuana in Colorado, but because it didn't prohibit marijuana clubs, some opened up.
“It's pretty much the Wild West with how these things are operating,” said Sen. Bob Gardner, R-El Paso County. “They need to regulated, restricted. Local communities need to have mechanisms, besides land use ordinances to control them.”
Senate Bill 184 will only allow marijuana clubs in places where the local city or county has authorized them.
If passed, the marijuana clubs will be private organizations that can't sell marijuana or alcohol.
