This crime sounds like something out of a movie.
Thieves wearing Halloween masks robbed a Lakewood bank and convenience store almost at the same time. Police say the 7-Eleven robbery was likely a diversion to slow officers’ response to the bank.
The bank on Carr Street is just a few miles north of the gas station being robbed on South Pierce.
The FBI sent out photos of the robbers, who hit the bank around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Police say the thieves shoved guns into the bank tellers’ faces and fled in a stolen jeep. One teller was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
The suspects’ masks are ones like those worn in the “Scream” movies.
The 7-Eleven robber wore a skeleton mask. Two shots were fired at the wall but no one was hurt.
Anyone with information should call police.
