A homeless kitten now has a prosthetic limb that was created with a 3D printer, thanks to students from The Art Institute and the Denver Animal Shelter.
The kitten, named "Sonic," was fitted with the prosthesis Wednesday morning.
The students used advanced design skills to analyze the kitten's disability and create the prosthetic limb for its right front leg, officials said in a statement.
"Sonic has been in foster care since early April, and will likely be placed up for adoption on June 3, following the final fitting," officials stated. "Art Institute students have committed to working with Sonic’s adoptive family to ensure the prosthetic is properly fitted as Sonic grows."
