A suspect in a King Soopers shooting that took place early Wednesday morning is now in police custody in Louisiana, an officer with the Denver Police Department said.
Nick Vandervoort, 19, is being charged with first-degree murder in connection to the shooting, which occurred around 1:15 a.m. outside the King Soopers in the area of south Sheridan Boulevard and West Dartmouth Avenue, according to Lynn Kimbrough, spokeswoman with the Denver District Attorney's Office.
The victim in the shooting, identified as Donald Johnson, arranged to meet Vandervoort in the early morning hours of Sept. 16 because Vandervoort owed him money, Kimbrough told 7NEWS.
Johnson was then shot multiple times and taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Vandervoort is now facing extradition back to Denver, according to DPD spokeswoman Christine Downs.
