JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo — A new plan out of Jefferson County will help improve and enhance the county’s trails and greenways.
Jeffco Open Space is heading the creation of the new Jeffco Trails Plan, which will be the first countywide trail plan for the county.
The plan will assess what trails and greenways need to improve and how the projects should be prioritized. These projects will better safety, increase and enhance recreation opportunities, and allow more people to access these outdoor paths from their front door.
The Jeffco Trails Plan is a collaborative effort between the county, local governments and nonprofit partners.
It will be financed through a Great Outdoors Colorado planning grant that uses Colorado Lottery funds.
The county is asking for community members to learn more about the project and share their vision for the trail network at www.JeffcoTrailsPlan.org. The website includes an interactive tool that allows users to pinpoint specific issues on a map and highlight ideas for certain locations.
The planning process for this plan kicked off in January and officials will spend a year developing it. It is expected to be completed in February 2020.
