BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. — The huge wooden troll that once stood guard next to a Breckenridge trail will have a new home when he's reincarnated this spring.
Danish artist Thomas Dambo will return to Breckenridge in May to rebuild the troll, named Isak Heartstone, on a piece of land near the ice arena, town officials announced Monday.
The new location sits on property owned by the town and was chosen for its proximity to downtown and access to public transit.
The @TownofBreck has decided on a new location for #IsakHeartstone, the wooden troll sculpture that was removed in Nov. due to neighbor complaints. Isak will be rebuilt on town-owned land near the ice arena. There is an existing "social trail" there now, will become new trail. pic.twitter.com/iKxXLT3PKB

The 15-foot troll was erected beside a trail last summer for a festival, but it was so popular that nearby homeowners complained about all the foot traffic. It was taken down in November.
Rebuilding should get underway around May 5 and will take about two weeks using new material and pieces saved from the original location. The cost to rebuild Isak is estimated to be around $20,000, which will be split between the town of Breckenridge and BRECKcreate.
Breckenridge officials are looking for volunteers to help rebuild Isak.
