DENVER – Interstate 76 was shut down in both directions between U.S. Highway 85 and E-470 for more than three hours Wednesday because of a six-vehicle crash that killed one person.
The crash happened between Exit 12 (U.S. 85) and Exit 18 (E-470) on I-76 shortly after 3 p.m. in the northeastern part of the metro area. Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis said the crash happened on I-76 near Sable.
CSP said just before 5 p.m. that one person died at the scene of the crash. Brighton Fire Rescue said three people were transported to area hospitals with injuries.

The highway reopened by 7:50 p.m.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
