GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. — Drivers might want to avoid the Arapahoe Road and Interstate 25 area this weekend.

The Colorado Department of Transportation is moving to the next phase of construction at the interchange and will be closing both lanes of Arapahoe Road under I-25 starting at 10 p.m. Friday.

Lane restrictions will begin on both east and westbound Arapahoe between Dayton Street and Greenwood Plaza Boulevard starting at 8 p.m. The lanes will be closed entirely starting at 10 p.m. and will remain in place until 5 a.m. Monday.

Motorists can also expect lane restrictions on both lanes of I-25 from Dry Creek to Orchard roads from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

This $66 million project is slated for completion the summer of 2018 and will include building additional lanes on Arapahoe, providing three left turn lanes from the I-25 off-ramps, and building noise walls.
