A hiker looking antler sheds found human remains while walking through the Trout Creek Pass area.
The man called the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday to report his discovery.
Deputies confirmed these remains were human. They blocked off the area for investigators to continue searching.
The sheriff’s office hasn’t yet finished gathering evidence.
At this point, deputies are treating this as a homicide investigation.
The coroner’s office is assisting with the process.
The person’s identity hasn’t been determined.
