House explodes, burns near Grand Junction; no one hurt

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — A house near Grand Junction has burned to the ground after an explosion that rocked nearby homes, but no injuries have been reported.

The Daily Sentinel reports no one was home at the time of the explosion on Thursday. A pet dog and cat were reported missing.

The cause was under investigation.

Lower Valley Fire Protection District Chief Frank Cavaliere says a neighbor reported hearing the explosion and seeing the flames.

Fire crews had to bring water tenders to the scene to fight the fire.
