(UPDATE JUNE 21) — After weeks of collecting votes from the public, the Denver Zoo announced Friday morning that its new baby sloth will be named Wookiee. Watch the announcement below.

DENVER — You can vote on a name for the Denver Zoo’s new baby sloth and help conservation efforts at the same time with a new contest at the zoo.

The Linne’s two-toed sloth baby that was born in April is a boy, the zoo announced Monday morning. Now, it’s time to find him a fitting name.

He is the second baby born to mother Charlotte and father Elliot. The sloth family currently lives in the Bird World exhibit. Keepers said the best time to see mom and baby is late in the afternoon, when Charlotte is likely to be moving around.

Animal care staff narrowed a list of potential names down to three. Starting Monday, you can vote for your favorite one.

The possible names are:
· Wookiee
· Lando
· Kylo

Want to cast a vote? Here's how to do it:

  • Make a $1 donation — which will benefit the zoo’s conservation efforts in Denver and around the world — online or at the ticket window, 4D Theater or train/carousel window.
  • Each dollar earns you one vote on a name. You will receive a token with your donation.
  • Visit the zoo anytime between May 18 and June 9 and use the token to vote at the voting booth, which is located in the welcome plaza
  • The winning name will be announced in the zoo’s newsletter on June 14 and on social media on June 17.
