DURANGO, Colo. — Heavy rain falling over the 416 Fire burn scare in southwestern Colorado caused flooding and mudslides.

A mudslide closed U.S. Highway 550 for several hours Tuesday. The highway partially reopened later in the evening.

As a precaution, campers at the KOA campground on La Plata County Road 250 north of Hermosa were evacuated to the nearby fairgrounds.

No injuries were reported.

The 416 Fire started over a month ago near Durango and is no longer considered a threat.

The blaze charred more than 54,000 acres of wilderness and forced the evacuation of over 2,000 homes.
