DENVER — Crews worked to contain a grass fire that prompted officials to issue evacuation orders to a few homes in Larimer County Sunday.

Less than 10 homes were evacuated after a grass fire erupted near W. County Road 78 and N. County Road 17, according to Poudre Fire Authority.

The fire was reported around 3 p.m.

As of 6 p.m., it was 45% contained and by 9:20 p.m., it was fully contained at 80 acres, according to the Wellington Fire Protection District.

The evacuation orders were lifted once the fire was contained.

Crews were working to extinguish hot spots in the area and would remain on scene to perform mop ups. Pockets of heavy smoke will be visible inside the fire perimeter and will likely be visible throughout the day, officials said.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
