DENVER – Garth Brooks and 84,000 of his closest friends in low places are coming to Broncos Stadium at Mile High on Saturday night. (Sorry, that was too easy).
Brooks' "The Stadium Tour" stop in Denver is sold out and is expected to be the biggest concert in Mile High history, surpassing the 74,000 who saw U2 there in 2011. That means the roads will be plenty congested around the stadium Saturday night.
The concert gets underway at 7 p.m., with Joe Nichols opening for the six-time CMA Entertainer of the Year.
We talked with Brooks on Friday, ahead of the show:
If you're going, here's what you need to know:
Weather
Saturday will be sunny in the morning, with an increase in clouds in the afternoon as a cold front approaches Colorado. What concert-goers will need to watch out for will be the scattered showers and thunderstorms that are expected to develop later in the day. The storms will likely be isolated, as we saw on Friday, but here's the good news: Things should clear up as the night goes on, with the temperatures in the low 70s and high 60s, until more showers develop overnight.
Tickets
Yes, the concert is sold out. But that's through the official ticket sales. Secondary-market sites, such as Stubhub and Vivid Seats, still had tickets available Friday, starting around $50 in the upper deck. Lower bowl tickets were going for around $100, with field-level seats even pricier.
Parking
The short answer: There won't be any at the stadium, unless you already have a paid parking pass. Stadium parking was sold out by Friday afternoon. Offsite parking will be available at the Pepsi Center, Auraria Campus and the Downtown Aquarium.
Denver city officials, though, are warning against driving to the concert and are encouraging concert-goers to take the RTD light rail or bus system, or use rideshare services.
Going to the @garthbrooks concert tomorrow @broncosstadium? Don't have friends in "tow" places! Pay attention to posted parking restrictions in neighborhoods. Consider transit, rideshare or bike instead, as this is going to be the biggest ticketed event in the stadium's history! pic.twitter.com/utIagqaPSu
