FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Fort Collins Police Services arrested a man accused of stabbing another man to death on Nov. 19.

Detectives identified Brian Townsend, 35, of Fort Collins as a suspect through their investigation. He was arrested Monday on a first-degree murder charge.

On Nov. 21, officers responded to a call of a passerby finding a deceased man outside in the 800 block of N. College Ave. just after 10:30 a.m. Due to evidence on the scene, detectives began investigating the case as a suspicious death.

The Larimer County Coroner's office identified the man as Adam Clouser, 30, of Fort Collins. The office determined his cause of death was due to multiple stab wounds.

Through their investigation, the FCPS determined Townsend and Clouser got into an argument the afternoon of Nov. 19. After Townsend stabbed Clouser, he left the area, according to FCPS. They have reason to believe the two men knew each other.

FCPS said anyone with information about the incident who they haven't already spoken to should contact Detective Julia Chenoweth at (970) 416-2645. They can also make an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers of Larimer County at (970) 221-6868 or through their website.
