DENVER – RTD announced Thursday that it had obtained a five-year waiver to operate the A and B lines.
The federal waiver gives the transit agency a five-year window to find a fix to crossing gate issues that have plagued both lines. It also means RTD won't have to reapply for a waiver every few months.
Flaggers will still be stationed at intersections until state and federal regulators give the thumbs up to software fixes to operate the crossing gates.
Denver Transit Partners will continue to get fined because the gates haven't been fixed.
