LYONS, Colo. – Federal agents searched government offices in Lyons Tuesday amid an investigation into services that were to be provided to the town after a massive 2013 flood destroyed much of the town.
Lyons Mayor Connie Sullivan said the town is “fully cooperating” with the investigation, though it’s unclear exactly which federal agency was involved or what specifically was being sought.
In a news release, Sullivan said the town and its board of trustees “will work to ensure Town operations and flood recovery projects continue to move forward” and that she and the board are “committed to providing the citizens of Lyons a transparent accounting of how funds associated with the recovery have been managed.”
Sullivan said she and the board were awaiting the federal agency’s findings.
A public special meeting will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. “to discuss the plans for maintaining Town operations during this challenging time,” the news release said.
