DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. – Two people killed when their car collided with a freight train in Douglas County on Tuesday have been identified as a father and son from Thornton.
The Douglas County Coroner’s Office said Salah Norri Slaeh Al Adhamee, 68, and Noori Salah Nori Al Adhamee, 16, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred shortly before 1 p.m. in the 8500 block of U.S. Highway 85. The circumstances surrounding the collision aren’t clear; investigators are looking into why the car was on the track.
No other injuries were reported.
The train involved is operated by BNSF Railway. The rail line runs along US 85, crossing several roads and business access points, most of which lack crossing arms.
