Fast-moving storm to leave several inches of snow around Denver metro area

It's a winter wonderland around the Denver metro area, but the snowstorm isn't sticking around for long.

The fast-moving storm will continue to roll over Denver Tuesday morning before skies clear by the afternoon.

We're blogging live updates on the snowstorm and how it's affecting road conditions.

9:30 a.m. | A car crashed on eastbound 470 at Quebec. The roads are wet in this are and hydroplaning is possible.

9:08 a.m. | Wadsworth is back open after closing between Mississippi Avenue and Ohio Avenue in Lakewood around 8:20 a.m.

8:59 a.m. | Westbound I-70 is now all clear between Pecos and Federal.

8:57 a.m. | The City of Lakewood is on accident alert.

8:47 a.m. | The jackknifed semi on westbound I-70 near Federal Boulevard has been cleared, but there's another semi — this one is disabled — on westbound I-70. Once that is cleared, traffic will let up if you're headed west.

8:45 a.m. | There is a low to moderate risk of avalanches around the Colorado mountains today and tomorrow, according to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. Visit CAIC's website for details on each region.

8:43 a.m. | Kipling has reopened after closing in the southbound lanes at W. 38th Avenue.

8:38 a.m. | There is a crash on southbound I-25 at Colorado. Traffic is slow well before University.

8:37 a.m. | A crash has been reported on 6th near Kipling and Garrison. The roads are still snow-covered in this area.

8:35 a.m. | The streets in downtown Denver are more wet than snowy now as the storm begins to move out of the Denver metro area.

8:34 a.m. | The city of Westminster said crews have been plowing since 3 a.m. and will continue to do so until all primary and secondary roads are cleared.

8:24 a.m. | There is a stalled vehicle on westbound I-70 at Pecos in the right lane.

8:23 a.m. | A new wreck has been reported on westbound I-76 near Sheridan Boulevard.

8:14 a.m. | CDOT says there is a ramp restriction in place at I-225. One lane is blocked on the ramp to southbound I-225.

8:08 a.m. | A crash on eastbound 470before Quebec is blocking the right lane. There is a little slowing in this area, but traffic is still getting by.

8:05 a.m. | One lane of traffic is getting by the semi wreck on westbound I-70 at Federal Boulevard.

8 a.m. | Several crashes have been reported on I-70 east of E-470.

7:57 a.m. | W. 38th Avenue at southbound Kipling is shut down as cars are stuck on the hill and there are multiple crashes. Northbound will likely close soon as well. Authorities are asking drivers to use other routes.

7:52 a.m. | Authorities in Wheat Ridge and Jefferson County are asking drivers to stay home if they are able.

7:46 a.m. | The Broomfield Police Department says the City and County of Broomfield is on accident alert.

7:51 a.m. | Crashes have been reported at Jewell and Pierce. Another one was just reported on eastbound 470 at Quebec.

7:50 a.m. | The stalled semi at southbound I-25 at 120th has been cleared. The crash on the northbound side in this same area has also been cleared.

7:39 a.m. | Some traffic is getting by the semi wreck on westbound I-70 near Federal Boulevard. This may be traffic that was diverted off the highway and is being let back on.

7:36 a.m. | A semi has stalled in the southbound lanes of I-25 at 120th on the right side. There's a crash in the northbound side at the same area.

7:30 a.m. | The National Weather Service out of Boulder shared the below radar that shows how the heavy band of snow is moving across the Front Range.

7:29 a.m. | All lanes of westbound I-70 are closed at Federal Boulevard due to a jackknifed semi. The call to report the semi came in at 6:57 a.m., according to the Denver Police Department. It's not a crash, DPD said, and is just sidewalks. Nobody was injured.

7:13 a.m. | Highway 285 is closed at Kenosha Pass, west of Bailey.

5:55 a.m. | As snow continues to fall around the state, roads are slick and snow-packed. This will create hazardous driving conditions for early commuters.
