Missing elderly man found safe after accepting ride from stranger when his car broke down

LOGAN COUNTY, Colo. — A 73-year-old man has gone missing after his car broke down in Ault and he accepted a ride from a stranger.

Walter Collins’s car broke down while he was driving in Ault around 6 p.m. Wednesday and an unknown person gave him a ride to an unknown location in Logan County, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

He has not been seen or heard from since.

Collins has dementia and Alzheimer’s, according to the sheriff’s office.

Collins is described as a white man standing about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing about 110 pounds. He is bald with some gray facial hair. He was last seen in yellow pajama pants with cartoon characters, a white shirt, an orange Broncos hat and glasses.
