DENVER – East High School was placed on modified lockdown Wednesday morning after police received a report of a possible weapon on campus.

A modified lockdown means students were in their classrooms and instruction was continuing.

Police said a student sent a text message to the Safe2Tell program saying another student had a weapon. It wasn't clear what kind of weapon was reported.

Officers responded and searched the campus but did not find any weapons. The lockdown was lifted and officers began clearing the scene shortly before 11 a.m.

Officials said there would be an increased police presence at the school throughout the day as officers continued to investigate.
