A husband and wife were carjacked at gunpoint outside their home in Thornton early Wednesday morning.

It happened on East 130th Court at about 5:40 a.m., according to Thornton Police spokesperson Matt Barnes. That's about two blocks from Century Middle School. The nearest major cross streets are Washington Street and East 128th Avenue.

Two suspects drove up in a blue Honda Civic and threatened the couple with a gun, Barnes said.

One of the suspects took off in the victims' gray Hyundai Sonata. The car has Colorado plates with license number 328 THI, according to Barnes.

Barnes said officers spotted the stolen car on southbound Interstate 25 and chased it onto westbound West 84th Avenue. The officers lost sight of the car near Circle Drive and had to call off the chase.

There is only a vague description of the suspect. Police said he is about 18-20 years old and may be Hispanic.
