HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — An English Bulldog died after walking onto the ice at a pond in Cheese Ranch Park Friday.
South Metro Fire Rescue were called out to the park in Highlands Ranch to try to rescue the dog just after 12:30 p.m.
A rescue diver was able to find the 7-year-old dog under the water. Firefighters attempted to resuscitate the dog, but it died.
"This is a tragic reminder of just how dangerous the ice can be to people and pets," South Metro Fire Rescue said in a tweet.
