FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The body of an elderly man who had been missing for more than a day was found near Cobb Lake in Larimer County Monday.
The Larimer County Sheriff's Office was asking for the public's help finding John A. Spracklling, 83, after he disappeared Saturday.
He was last seen at his home in the 2000 block of Sherell Drive in unincorporated Larimer County at about noon.
Authorities became concerned after family members said it was unusual for him to leave home for more than a few hours without telling his family. He had also left his cell phone at home, deputies said.
Deputies searched areas he was known to frequent, including a cabin in Red Feather Lakes, but weren’t able to locate him.
Around 3 p.m. Monday, deputies discovered his body around Cobb Lake, located near 5999 East County Road 56 in unincorporated Larimer County.
The Larimer County Coroner’s Office responded and will release cause and manner of death at a later time. Authorities say there is no known threat to the public.
