Spring break has arrived!
Denver metro area school districts are on spring break between March 16 and March 31, and Denver7 is helping parents plan out a fun week with our Spring Break Survival Guide. Several venues are offering special programming during this time. Here are the recommendations from Denver7 parents for educational, active and budget-friendly fun.
Best educational fun:
- Denver Art Museum (free for kids 18 and under) — The art museum is offering two special weeks of spring break programming for kids of all ages. Children can make their own art in the print studio. In-gallery Create-n-Takes will be available every day from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The popular family friendly play "Art Emergency" will run daily March 25-29. Students 18 years old and younger always get free museum admission. Teachers can get in free March 22-29.
- Plains Conservation Center, Aurora (Free Day: March 21st) — Through its partnership with the Denver Botanic Gardens, the conservation center is holding a free day during spring break. Kids can learn about the natural history of Colorado's short grass prairie, and hike or take a wagon ride to see nature up close. They can also check out the nature center and sod home village and learn what it was like to live on the prairie in the 1800s.
- Littleton Museum (free)
- Dinosaur Ridge, Morrison (free passes may be available with Library Culture Pass)
- Butterfly Pavilion, Westminster (Library Culture Pass)
- Denver Museum of Nature and Science (Library Culture Pass)
- Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum, Centennial (Library Culture Pass)
- WOW Children's Museum, Lafayette (children 1-11 $10, adults $5)
Best options to stay active indoors:
- Apex Center, Arvada — The leisure pool is very popular during schools breaks, so if you want smaller crowds try ice skating on the center's two ice rinks, or check out the rock climbing wall. There's also an indoor playground that's free.
- Miller Activity Complex, Castle Rock — Amenities include the pool, indoor children's play structure, trampoline area and indoor turf.
