DENVER — A pedestrian died after they were struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Tuesday evening, according to Denver police.

The Denver Police Department said the crash happened at N. Gaylord Street and E. Colfax Avenue around 9 p.m. The intersection is just southwest of City Park.

The pedestrian had been walking in the middle of Colfax, police said.

The driver fled from the scene, police said. On Thursday, Metro Denver Crime Stoppers said the vehicle is a blue sedan that might have light or moderate front-end damage to the front passenger side.

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries Tuesday night. The following morning, police said the pedestrian died.

The person was identified on Thursday as Justin Conway, 49, according to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner. He died of blunt force injuries.

The eastbound lanes of E. Colfax Avenue were closed during the investigation.
