DENVER — Police in Denver are looking for the suspects in a fatal highway shooting Sunday night.
Police said suspects in a stolen truck shot and killed a driver on westbound Interstate 70 near the Northfield and Quebec exit. The driver was identified as 31-year-old Kevin Piaskowski.
The shooting happened around 11 p.m. Sunday.
After the shooting, the driver of the stolen silver Dodge pickup truck crashed into several other vehicles.
The suspects in the Dodge pickup took off after the crash, police said. No other injuries were reported.
Piaskowski was a United Airlines employee, and the company issues the following statement to Denver7 on Tuesday morning: “We are incredibly saddened by the tragic loss of Kevin Piaskowski, a United Airlines employee. United extends our deepest condolences to Kevin’s family, friends and coworkers. We are providing our employees with emotional support and resources during this time.”
A video of the crash was posted to Reddit Monday morning and can be viewed in the player below. [Warning: Video may be disturbing to some viewers]
It shows a pickup crash after shots are heard.
The man who captured the video on his dashcam told Denver7 that the Dodge pickup driver was being aggressive toward everyone on the road.
"He started shooting at the black Subaru to kind of have him get out the way," Emin, who did not want to provide a last name, told Denver7.
Police said they are actively investigating the case. They have not said if the shooting was a result of a road rage incident or if the victim was targeted.
Emin said the incident appeared to be a random attack.
"The way that guy decided to randomly shoot up that guy, it didn't look super targeted," he said.
Anyone who witnessed this incident and has not spoken with investigators is encouraged to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
