DENVER — Denver police said one man is in serious condition after he was shot and crashed a car into a pole early Monday morning.

Denver police responded to a report of a disturbance along the 2100 block of S. Sheridan Boulevard early Monday morning. When officers arrived at the scene, they found one male who had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

As police investigated the scene, they learned that the male had been involved in a fight right before the shooting, and had been shot when he was either in a car or right before getting into a car. He then struck two people and crashed into a pole, police said.

One of the people who was hit by the car had minor injuries and the other left the scene without treatment.

The male who was shot is in serious condition as the hospital, police said.

Evans Avenue was closed between Sheridan Boulevard and Depew Street.
