DENVER — Two drivers were arrested early Friday on DUI charges after one crashed into the other in Denver.
Shortly after midnight, officers with the Denver Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle at 18th Street and Broadway, but the driver fled and officers did not pursue the car, said Kurt Barnes with DPD.
The suspect then ran a red light at W. Colfax Avenue and Broadway — about three blocks away — and hit another vehicle around 12:13 a.m. The driver and passenger from the suspect vehicle fled on foot, but were apprehended, Barnes said.
The driver was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and eluding.
In addition, the driver of the car that was struck was also arrested on a DUI charge and being a habitual traffic offender, meaning the driver wasn't permitted to be driving at the time.
Colfax and Broadway was closed for an investigation and reopened around 3 a.m.
No other details on the crash or suspects were available.
