FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Police in Fort Collins said they found a deceased person and "a possible chemical hazard" in a hotel room Thursday afternoon, though they ruled out the hazard later in the afternoon.

At 12:35 p.m. Thursday, officers with the Fort Collins Police Department responded to a welfare check along the 1500 block of N. College Avenue.

Inside a hotel room, they found a person who had died. Around 2:15 p.m., police said they noticed indications of "a possible chemical hazard." However shortly before 6 p.m., police confirmed that the fire department did not find any indication of a public safety risk or the presence of a chemical hazard.
