WELD COUNTY, Colo. – A deadly crash shut down U.S. Highway 85 near Nunn Wednesday morning.
The crash involved two vehicles and left one person dead, according to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis. Authorities said a car tried to pass a semi-truck while northbound against a solid yellow line and struck another car that was southbound.
The driver of the southbound vehicle was ejected and died at the scene, police said. The other driver was taken to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
Both directions of the highway were closed down between mile markers 289 and 297 for several hours Wednesday morning, but reopened by 9 a.m.
