WELD COUNTY, Colo. — Two men in their 20s died in a crash Monday morning on U.S. Route 85.

Trooper Josh Lewis with Colorado State Patrol said they received a call at 7:04 a.m. of a possible head-on collision at US 85 and Weld County Road 110.

Lewis said a 1999 Dodge pickup truck and another vehicle crashed at that location. The drivers of both vehicles died. The pickup driver was a 27-year-old Colorado man. The driver of the other car was a 21-year-old man from Nebraska.

It was not clear yet if weather played a role in the crash, Lewis said. Authorities are still investigating.

Both directions of US 85 were closed between County Road 108 and County Road 114 while authorities worked at the scene. It reopened at 9 a.m.
