DENVER – An estimated 1 in 11 Colorado residents has some kind of disability but only 42.7 percent of disabled adult Coloradans have jobs compared to nearly 80 percent of those without disabilities.

Thursday marks 28 years since President George H. W. Bush signed the Americans With Disabilities Act into law and to mark the anniversary, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper has declared the day Americans With Disabilities Act Anniversary Day. 

In addition, Contact7 and the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment are organizing a call center to help connect disabled Coloradans to job resources.

Volunteers will be available to take calls from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 26. The phone number to call is 303-777-7492.
