COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — Every year we stop and take time on Memorial Day to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
In Commerce City, there's a ceremony followed by a parade to honor the fallen heroes. And right across the street from Veterans Memorial Park sits a house belonging to Mark Koch. This house adorned with flags of all sorts to honor the military and the missing in action.
"I do it every year," Koch said.
He served 21 years in the Army himself and he's proud to honor his fallen brothers and sisters.
“It’s my way of honoring the community and honoring those past present and future service members,” he said.
The people who come to watch the parade just outside his place take notice.
"You wouldn’t believe how many people come up and shake my hand," he said. "I tell them it’s my honor and my duty."
