Colorado voter service and polling centers open Monday for 2018 midterm election

Posted

DENVER – Colorado’s midterm election is underway, with just over two weeks until the Nov. 6 Election Day. Since many Coloradans received their ballots in the mail last week, here’s a guide for what comes next.

Voter Service and Polling Centers open Monday across the state. There, voters will be able to drop their ballots off, vote in person or register to vote.

If you still haven’t registered to vote, you can do so by clicking here or texting “CO” to 28683 (2VOTE). People can also update their address or registration there and check the status of their ballot.

County clerks have been receiving ballots since they were mailed out last week to voters statewide and last month to military and overseas voters. The clerks can begin counting ballots Monday, though the results won’t be disclosed until Election Day.

The number of ballots turned in will be updated each weekday through Election Day.

During the 2016 General Election, 93 percent of the 2.8 million voters who participated in the election mailed their ballot or dropped it off at a ballot drop box or voting center. Just 7 percent voted in person.
