Colorado named 3rd best state for retirement

DENVER — Colorado continues to be a great place for retirees, according to a new ranking released by personal finance website WalletHub.

The Centennial State came in third on WalletHub’s list of the best states in which to retire, falling one spot from last year’s list.

Florida was once again named the best state for retirees.

WalletHub based its rankings on three main factors: Affordability, quality of life and health care, taking into consideration things like tax rates, cost of living, activities available for seniors and cost and quality of health care, among others.

Colorado was ranked in the top 10 for life expectancy, access to adult volunteer activities and number of doctors per capita.

Here are the top 10 states for retirees, according to WalletHub:

1. Florida
2. South Dakota
3. Colorado
4. New Hampshire
5. Virginia
6. Utah
7. Iowa
8. Wyoming
9. Pennsylvania
10. Minnesota

Kentucky is the worst state to retire to, according to WalletHub, followed by Rhode Island, West Virginia, Vermont and New Jersey.
