FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for taking money from lawn care and snow removal customers and then failing to provide the services.

The Coloradoan reports that 44-year-old Christopher Daily pleaded guilty April 1 to theft of $500 of more from an at-risk elder and theft of $20,000-$100,000. Nine charges were dropped.

A judge ordered Daily to pay more than $41,000 in restitution during the sentencing Wednesday.

Authorities say Daily charged $999 for two years of lawn care and snow removal to customers in Larimer County, 52 miles (84 kilometers) north of Denver.

Daily's defense attorney says 15 years is "lengthy for a purely financial case" and the sooner Daily can be gainfully employed "the sooner he'll be able to pay reparations."
