LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. — A cat in Larimer County had a very lucky Christmas Day after it was spotted slipping around on a lake with a can stuck on its head and rescued.
Around noon on Wednesday, the Poudre Fire Authority headed toward Cobb Lake in Larimer County, northeast of Fort Collins, to respond to a report that a cat with some sort of can stuck on its head had become stranded on the ice.
Firefighters were able to reach the cat and brought it to shore.
Staff with UCHealth EMS helped the firefighters remove the can from the cat's head.
Poudre Fire Rescue said the cat was likely trying to eat what was in the can and somehow got out onto the ice. They don't suspect any kind of criminal activity around the incident.
Authorities could not find the cat's owner, so it was taken to the Larimer Humane Society. The people who reported seeing the cat on the ice said they plan to adopt the cat if the owner doesn't come forward.
