BROOMFIELD, Colo. – Broomfield High School students were dismissed just before 12:30 p.m. Thursday because of threats made to the school via Safe2Tell reports, according to the district.

The Boulder Valley School District said it received “a number of Safe2Tell reports of a possible threat to Broomfield High.”

The district said it was “unable to determine the credibility of the threat” as of 12:30 p.m. but said that it decided to dismiss students after consulting with Broomfield police, who are assisting the district in a controlled release.

The district says students who walk or drive home are allowed to do so under police supervision. Those riding buses will be brought to their normal stops. Students who need to be picked up by parents will be taken to the Broomfield United Methodist Church, located at 545 W 10th Ave.

All after-school activities at the high school were canceled for Thursday.

At 1:45 p.m., Broomfield police said the high school had been searched and cleared, and found to be safe. The department said the investigation is ongoing.

The Boulder Valley School District said the school would be open again on Friday.

The threats come one day after a Safe2Tell report was made against Arapahoe Ridge High School in Boulder, though no threat was discovered, and after a student at McGlone Academy in Denver was arrested after being found with an airsoft gun on campus.
