BOULDER, Colo. – Move over, April the giraffe. There’s a new animal birth live stream in town.
The City of Boulder’s osprey camera is back for its second year and staff are expecting to see some baby osprey chicks hatch in the coming days.
The nest, located atop a pole near Boulder Reservoir, has two eggs: The first was laid on April 23 and the second on April 27. The incubation period for osprey eggs is typically about a month, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
The male osprey will typically go hunting for food while the female keeps watch over the nest and her eggs.
Since Boulder first started watching the nest in 2011, nine osprey chicks have hatched.
