Body found in burned car: Can cyclists help?

Posted

Investigators are working to identify a body found in a burning car in Jefferson County Sunday, and they are hoping someone in the cycling community may have a clue to the mystery.

Officials found the vehicle a little before noon at 9500 Cougar Road in the Deer Creek area, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office confirmed.

The car was engulfed in flames when crews arrived.

The sheriff's office reached out to cyclists Monday on Twitter -- looking for anyone who may have been filming with a GoPro while riding in the area between 10 a.m. and noon.

Investigators don't know whether the deceased person is a man or a woman. An autopsy is planned for Monday.

The death is considered suspicious.
