GUNNISON COUNTY, Colo. -- A rock slide has closed part of Highway 133 on the Western Slope.
The slide happened Tuesday near the east end of Paonia Reservoir.
The rock slide covered both lanes of Highway 133 with large boulders and other debris.
"CDOT crews are on scene and working with a geohazards contractor to begin the process of downsizing the boulders to clear the highway," according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Highway 133 is closed from the Collbran turn-off (approx. mile point 36) to the Kebler Pass turnoff (mile point 24).
Officials said they expect this to be a long-term closure.
