MORGAN COUNTY, Colo. – Authorities have identified a man who they say stole a semi-truck and led multiple law enforcement agencies in a pursuit across two Colorado counties over the weekend, injuring multiple people along the way.
Christopher Dean Luedtke, 29, is accused of stealing the truck near Sterling on Saturday.
Luedtke then led officers on a chase westward through Brush and Fort Morgan, hitting several vehicles and injuring a total of five people, including a Fort Morgan police officer, authorities said.
Authorities made several attempts to stop Luedtke along the way and fired their guns at him multiple times over the course of the pursuit.
Officers eventually caught up with Luedtke when he jumped out of the semi and tried to enter a home on Custer Street in Fort Morgan. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and then released into the custody of Fort Morgan police.
Luedtke faces a number of charges, including attempted first-degree murder, attempted murder of a peace officer and first-degree assault.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident and would like to hear from anyone who took photos or videos of the pursuit. The sheriff’s office can be reached by phone at 970-867-2461.
