GREELEY, Colo. — Authorities have identified a suspect who was found dead inside a home after a pursuit and shootout that left a Greeley police officer and another suspect injured last week.

The incident took place late Thursday, Nov. 14 when officers responded to a report of shots fired near 13th Street and 26th Avenue in Greeley. Officers then followed the suspects’ vehicle to 37th and Marigold, where both suspects got out of the pickup and fired multiple rounds, striking an officer, authorities said.

The officer and a female suspect were taken to the hospital.

A male suspect barricaded himself inside his home and was later found dead, police said. Authorities identified the man as Russel Cooley, 40.

Police have not identified the female suspect.

Both the injured officer and the female suspect have since been release from the hospital.
