1. Hot day ahead
It's going to be a hot one! Just about everyone across the plains will see highs in the upper 90s and low 100s. For Denver we expect a high of 99 degrees~and the record is 101 for the day.
2. Aurora theater shooting vigil
Tonight, a candlelight vigil will honor the 13 people who were killed in the mass shooting at the Century theater in Aurora in 2012. The vigil is set for 11:30 p.m. at the reflection garden outside Aurora's Municipal Center.
3. Lake Christine Fire flares up
Fire officials say there's been an increase in "fire activity" as the Lake Christine Fire near Basalt as hot, dry weather continues. The new activity has led to new pre-evacuation notices in the Missouri Heights area.
4. Trump tries to clarify stance on Russia
President Trump now says he holds Russian President Vladimir Putin personally responsible for meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Trump has faced criticism from both sides of the aisle for refusing to call out Putin or affirm his support for U.S. intelligence while in Helsinki. At a security forum in Aspen, FBI Director Christopher Wray reiterated the U.S. intelligence community's assertion that Russia did in fact interfere in the 2016 election and continues to target the U.S.
5. Amazon hiring in Thornton
Amazon announced this week that it has begun hiring 1,500 full-time positions at their new robotics fulfillment center in Thornton. Applicants can apply online or walk-in (after starting online) at the company's Westminster location, 11860 Pecos Street, Suite 2200, now until Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
