AURORA, Colo. — Aurora Fire Rescue confirmed that a deadly fire at an apartment complex in late October was the result of arson.
One person died in the fire and more than 60 people were displaced. The two-alarm fire broke out at the Galena Apartments, at 1600 Galena St., in the early morning hours of Oct. 30. The fire was under control around 12:27 a.m., Aurora Fire Rescue said.
Firefighters had to rescue several people, and others jumped from windows to escape the blaze.

Police announced that afternoon they were searching for a person of interest in connection to the fire. Aurora Fire Rescue released screengrabs of surveillance video that same day asking for help in locating a person of interest in connection with the fire.

On Tuesday morning, Aurora Fire Rescue officially confirmed the fire was a result of arson and the resulting death was being investigated as a homicide. They also released the surveillance video of the person of interest.
