PARK COUNTY, Colo. — At least three people have been taken to the hospital after a two-car crash on Highway 9 in Park County.

The Colorado State Patrol confirmed the call came in at 5:41 p.m. for a crash involving a 2014 Honda SUV and a 2000 Chevy pickup truck on Highway 9 near Alma.

Multiple helicopters were called to the scene for injuries.

Master Trooper Gary Cutler with Colorado State Patrol said one driver, a 37-year-old man from Colorado Springs, was transported via ambulance with serious injuries to a hospital. His 42-year-old male passenger, also from Colorado Springs, had minor injuries and was transported.

The driver of the second car, a 42-year-old woman from Breckenridge, was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

Cutler said three juveniles were also in this vehicle — a 5-year-old, 3-year-old, and 1-year-old, all from Breckenridge. The 5-year-old and 3-year-old were both flown to Children's Hospital with serious injuries. The 3-year-old had life-threatening injuries, Cutler said.

Cutler said one vehicle crossed over the center land and collided head-on with the other, though investigators are not sure which was which.

CSP said alcohol, drugs and excessive speed are not suspected as factors in the crash.

Highway 9 was closed between County Road 4 and Alma Placer Sand and Gravel for several hours Tuesday evening. It reopened just before 9 p.m.
