WELD COUNTY, Colo. — Two people died following a crash a few miles east of Kersey along U.S. 34 Thursday morning.

Cpl. Ivan Alvarado with Colorado State Patrol said the crash was reported at 2:24 a.m. One vehicle rolled during the crash. Two people were pronounced deceased at the scene, he said. It was not clear if they were the drivers of each car, or had been driving together.

All eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. 34 at County Road 69 remain closed as of 6 a.m. The Colorado Department of Transportation said semi drivers can use I-76 as an alternate and passenger vehicles can use county roads.

Alvarado said there is no ETA for reopening.

No other information was available Thursday morning. This story will be updated.
