7 Halloween trick-or-treat events, deals and more

Halloween is Wednesday and if you're looking for things to do, we have some ideas.

Trick-or-treat

If you're planning to take the kids trick-or-treating, Nextdoor.com has ranked Aurora as the No. 3 in the country for top cities for treats. Plano, Texas, and Raleigh, North Carolina took the top two spots.

Nextdoor has a "treat map" that shows homes giving out candy or allergy-free treats. See the map and add your home here.

Safe Halloween

Denver Police are hosting Halloween parties for kids on Wednesday:

  • District One. 4-6 p.m., Aztlan Recreation Center, 4435 N. Navajo St.
  • Districts Two and Five co-hosted party 4-7 p.m., Denver Police Academy, 2155 Akron Way (near E. Montview Boulevard and Central Park Boulevard)
  • District Six 4-7 p.m., Denver District Six Station, 1566 N. Washington St.
  • District Four (Candy at the front desk for kids) 4-7 p.m. District Four Station, 2100 South Clay St. 

Tiny Tot Halloween

Tiny ghouls and goblins are invited to invade Old Town Ft Collins from 10-11 a.m. for the safe and family-friendly trick-or-treating experience. Kids will collect candy from downtown businesses and their costumed staff members. Free to the public.

Louisville Trick-or-Treat

The city of Louisville is hosting its 51st Annual Halloween Parade & Merchant Trick or Treat.

The 8:30 a.m. parade starts from the elementary school and goes to City Hall for fluorescent trick or treating bags to trick or treat with merchants and then walk back to school. Louisville Police Department will give candy and safety tips from police vehicle trunks along the way.

Families are also invited to the police building from 3-5 p.m. for trick-or-treating and tours.

Chipotle deal

Chipotle is once again hosting Boorito. Wear your costume to Chipotle from 3 p.m. to close on Wednesday and get a $4 burrito, salad or tacos.

Burger Fi

BurgerFi is offering a free small custard or free small fries to anyone who visits the restaurant in costume on Wednesday, October 31 at participating BurgerFi restaurants (limit one per guest, no substitutions*).

Burning off the calories

While you're enjoying candy on Halloween, remember calories do count, even on holidays.

Local GYMGUYZ trainer and mom Barbara Garey has crunched some numbers to see just how much exercise you need to sweat off your favorite candies.

  • To burn off a snack size Butterfinger, the average person would need to do: Pushups for 18 minutes, 667 Jumping Jacks, or a plank for 16 minutes.
  • To burn off a king size Butterfinger, the average person would need to do: Pushups for 48 minutes, 1815 jumping jacks, or a plank for 1 hour 15 minutes.
  • To burn off a snack size portion of Skittles, the average person would need to do:  Pushups for 11 minutes, 400 jumping jacks, or a plank for 16 minutes.
  • To burn off a snack size portion of Skittles, the average person would need to do:  Pushups for 33 minutes, 1,267 jumping jacks, or a plank for 52 minutes.
